Bring your Strava history

How to ask Strava for your account's file and bring all your runs into Calcpace at once.

Strava sends anyone who asks a ZIP file with everything they ever logged there. Send that file to Calcpace and your runs and walks come in at once, with map, splits and heart rate when the file has them.

Your whole history comes, private activities included, and you don't need to connect Strava to Calcpace.

The essentials

  1. 1.On the Strava website, open Settings › My Account › Download your account, tap “Get Started”, then “Request download”.
  2. 2.When Strava's email arrives, download the ZIP.
  3. 3.In Calcpace, open Settings › Bring your history and send the ZIP, without opening it.

How to ask Strava for the file

  1. Sign in on the Strava website (strava.com). The Strava app doesn't have this option. A phone's browser works too.
  2. From your name at the top, open Settings, then the My Account tab.
  3. Under “Download your account”, tap “Get Started”.
  4. On the next page, tap “Request download”.

Strava emails the link to the address on your Strava account. This may take a few hours.

How to send it to Calcpace

  1. In Strava's email, tap the link and download the ZIP.
  2. In Calcpace, open Settings › Bring your history and pick the ZIP as it came, without opening or unzipping it.
  3. Once the upload is done, you can close the app: the reading goes on by itself. When it ends, the home screen shows how many runs came in, and the Android app sends a notification, if they are on.

The ZIP can be up to 2 GB. You can send it from the app or the website, on a phone or a computer, with the same account.

What comes in

  • Runs and walks, trail runs, virtual runs and hikes included, with the name you gave them on Strava.
  • With a file from the watch or app: map, splits, chart and heart rate (with your consent).
  • Typed in by hand on Strava, with no file: date, distance and time, when your Strava account is in English. In any other language, Strava writes the date in a way that cannot be read safely, and they stay out.
  • Rides, swims and other sports stay out.

What doesn't come in twice

  • A run that is already here, from your watch through Health Connect, recorded in the app or sent as a file, doesn't come in again.
  • Sending the same file again duplicates nothing.

Privacy

From the ZIP we read only the list and the files of your activities: messages, followers and photos are never opened. The ZIP is deleted as soon as the reading ends, and the runs start out visible only to you.

If something goes wrong

  • “This file is not a ZIP”: send the file as Strava sent it, without opening or unzipping it.
  • “This file isn't a Strava or Garmin export”: it's another file, such as a single activity's. Ask Strava for your account's file, as above.
  • It stopped halfway: send the same file again. What already came in doesn't duplicate.
  • Account without sign-up: the import opens once you save the account with an email and password.
